Aqueous Supramolecular Chemistry

Meeting Description:

Water is essential to life and virtually all physical and chemical processes on earth. A deeper understanding of the different molecular forces occurring in water and aqueous solutions is therefore central to many modern biological and environmental challenges. This includes the design of novel diagnostics and therapeutics, new chemical tools to understand and manipulate biological processes, innovative catalytic systems for green chemistry, and novel systems to remediate environmental problems. Unfortunately, supramolecular chemists often shy away from aqueous media due to the difficulties engendered by this more complex and less understood solvent. On the other hand, scientists interested in water and aqueous solutions are often unaware of the many molecular tools available for probing non-covalent interactions. The aim of the proposal is to bring together prominent supramolecular chemists and experts in the area of water and aqueous solutions so that the two fields can build upon each other’s expertise. The three goals of the proposed meeting are: 1) to gain a deeper understanding of molecular recognition events occurring in water; 2) to identify the next grand challenges for aqueous supramolecular chemistry to address, and; 3) to establish new collaborations to solve these grand challenges.

We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering. If you have registered for a meeting you were not invited to, you may be subject to a $100 fee.

TSRC is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Aha School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). There is more information on childcare, camps, and family activities on TSRC's website. Feel free to contact TSRC's staff to help with any planning and/or coordinating care.

A $100.00 discount is applied to your lodging cost when you register before 03/15/2019.

Cancellation Policy: All cancelled registrations are subject to a $100 Cancellation Fee. TSRC can only guarantee a refund for the balance of fees and lodging charges paid when a refund is requested prior to the Cancellation Deadline that is specific to each workshop, which in this case is 07/05/2019. TSRC always recommends that participants purchase travel insurance to protect against unforeseen, last-minute travel plan changes.
