Accelerating Reaction Discovery, A TSRC Collaborative
06/20/2011 - 06/24/2011
Meeting Description:

Charged with the mission of expanding chemical space and finding new small molecules that can function as chemical probes, chemists are searching for methods to accelerate
and broaden the reaction discovery process;i a process that has traditionally been guided by the needs of natural product synthesis and has focused on one particular chemical transformation at a time. The challenges
associated with realizing an accelerated reaction discovery process are many, but one that needs to be overcome immediately is the multidisciplinary nature of the problem. For example, we expect that realization of the extraordinary potential of a widely expanded reaction discovery program will only be enabled through close collaborations between computational, analytical and synthetic chemists.

We believe that by bringing together a group of chemists with diversified backgrounds (computational, analytical, mechanistic and synthetic) with a common goal of
accelerating reaction discovery, we can transition our ideas more quickly into a successful collaborative/center proposal. The dynamic environment offered by the
Telluride Research Science Center is an ideal starting point for this collaboration. We anticipate approximately ten
people will be in attendance.
