Platinum Group Metal-free Electrocatalysts: Small Molecules Activation and Conversion

Meeting Description:

This workshop will bring together a small, yet very energetic group of world-renown experts in electrocatalysis to discuss activation of small molecules of importance to energy technology: hydrogen oxidation and evolution reactions (HOR/HER), oxygen reduction or oxygen evolution reactions (ORR/OER), CO2 electro-reduction (CO2ER) and nitrogen reduction reaction (N2RR). The focus of the program is on platinum group metal-free (PGM-free) catalysts or several types: metallic allows and composites, oxide, carbide, nitride, phosphide and mixed ceramic nanostructure, 2D catalysts such as MXenes, chalcogenides, graphene, transition metal-nitrogen-carbon (M-N-C) catalysts and other materials with atomically dispersed metals. Presently, large programs in US, Europe and Japan has been set on by major funding agencies to advance this class of materials towards practical applications. Despite the technology push, there is no common understanding neither on the mechanism of their action, nor on the structure of the catalytic active sites. Open discussion among invited speakers from across the world will advance our understanding of these electrochemical systems and will benefit chemical energy conversion science and technology.


We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.

Telluride Science is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Aha School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). Cancellation Policy: Cancellation Policy: Once a credit card has been charged, cancelled registrations will be subject to a cancellation fee. We will process registration fees beginning on January 15th, 2022. If a payment of registration fees has been processed, a $25 cancellation fee will be retained from a registration refund. Lodging fee payments will be processed 60 days prior to arrival, and a $100 cancellation fee will apply if cancellations occur after a lodging fee payment is completed. TSRC can only guarantee a refund for the remaining lodging fees if requested prior to the cancellation deadline that is specific to each lodging provider. TSRC always recommends that participants purchase travel insurance to protect against unforeseen, last-minute travel plan changes.
