The goal of this TSRC workshop is to promote and facilitate an in-depth, cross-discipline discussion on molecule transformation related to energy storage and conversion, with a focus on proton-coupled molecule conversion. We will bring together a small group of scientists in homogenous molecular electrocatalysis, heterogenous electrocatalysis, electrochemistry with application background in, for example, water splitting, CO2 reduction, N2 reduction, fuel cells, redox flow batteries. Proton transfer and proton coupled electron transfer are key processes in the transformation of these molecules. Understanding how proton transfer affects the overall reactions and how to enhance proton transfer is critically important in designing materials and innovating processes for transforming these molecules more efficiently and selectively, which are fundamentally important for clean, low-carbon energy technology development. There has been significant effort and progress in understanding the reaction mechanisms, materials and chemistry innovation within traditional disciplines; however, very little collaboration, discussion has been done across the boundaries of these traditional disciplines (e.g., homogenous molecular catalysis vs. heterogenous catalysis). This TSRC workshop aims to provide a forum for the cross-discipline discussion to promote the collaboration and advance the scientific frontier in this field.
We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.
TSRC is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Aha School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). There is more information on childcare, camps, and family activities on TSRC's website. Feel free to contact TSRC's staff to help with any planning and/or coordinating care.
