Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Chiral Structures and their Assemblies

Meeting Description:

Organized molecular systems are important components in biology and are the building blocks of nanodevices. Much attention is given to the structural properties of these systems, but much less is known on the electromagnetic properties that emerge from the cooperative effects resulting from organizing molecular systems. The study of these cooperative electronic and magnetic properties requires collaboration among scientists coming from different disciplines, biology on one hand and mesoscopic physics and spintronics on the other, with organic, theoretical and physical chemists. The workshop will bring scientists from these different communities and disciplines together, and provide a forum to encourage communication and collaboration on this important and newly emerging subject. Specific topic for discussion are likely to include: spectroscopic signatures of chirality and of chiral imprints, spin-polarized photoemission from dissymmetric films, spin selective photochemistry of chiral species, molecular spintronics, manifestations of chirality in the properties of surfaces, films and interfaces.

The registration fee includes breakfast on each workshop day. There is also a catered picnic on Wednesday night.

We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.

TSRC is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Ah Haa School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). IMPORTANT: Participants should be aware that this workshop runs Sunday through Thursday. The 4th of July lodging rates will go into effect on the night of Thursday the 30th. To avoid the rate increase, you should depart on the evening of the 30th. If your flight out of Montrose does not leave until Friday the 1st, TSRC suggests eating dinner in Telluride on the night of the 30th, taking the shuttle to Montrose after dinner, and staying at the Hampton Inn (970-547-4120) next to the airport. You will receive a discount at the Hampton Inn by saying you are a TSRC scientist.

A $100.00 discount is applied to your lodging cost when you register before 01/31/2022.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation Policy: Once a credit card has been charged, cancelled registrations will be subject to a cancellation fee. We will process registration fees beginning on January 15th, 2022. If a payment of registration fees has been processed, a $25 cancellation fee will be retained from a registration refund. Lodging fee payments will be processed 60 days prior to arrival, and a $100 cancellation fee will apply if cancellations occur after a lodging fee payment is completed. TSRC can only guarantee a refund for the remaining lodging fees if requested prior to the cancellation deadline that is specific to each lodging provider. TSRC always recommends that participants purchase travel insurance to protect against unforeseen, last-minute travel plan changes.
