Meeting Venues

TSRC uses the town of Telluride as our campus renting facilities that best suit the needs of a particular meeting at a particular time. The Telluride Intermediate School, with multiple classrooms and the state-of-the-art Palm Theatre, is our primary venues.

VENUES

Telluride Intermediate School

Built in 2005, our summer home is the Telluride Intermediate School, located at the entrance of town. Availability is mid-June through mid-August of any given year. The second floor is our primary space with three classroom, a cafe, a TSRC office, and a semi-private office for scientists. Two classrooms on the first floor are also available for our use. The windowed, standard classrooms seat about 35 peope maximum. Also available to us is the "rehearsal room," which seats up to about 60 people classroom style. Our TSRC entrance is located by the small basketball court off the parking lot entrance of the main high school. Look for the TSRC signage.

The Palm Theatre

The sleek and modern Michael D. Palm Theatre, located on the Telluride school campus, contains 400 comfortable seats on the main level and an additional 250 in the upper balcony level. Sight lines are clear to the stage from every spot. Built with comfortable tiered seating, fabulous acoustics, and a stage that facilitates easy viewing, the Palm is a perfect place for scientific conferences of 170 to 650 people. The 30,000 square foot facility built just five years ago, is state-of-the-art. The facility is wheelchair accessible, both to the main floor and balcony seating. Meals can be served on the lawn just outside the Palm Theatre on the large open field in the dramatic setting of Telluride’s box canyon. Mountains and waterfalls form the backdrop.  Outside the theatre, under airy tents on the school’s sports field and beneath the imposing silhouettes of Ajax and Ballard Peaks, participants can enjoy delicious, healthy, meals. Coffee, tea, soda, and snacks can be served in the spacious lobby outside the theatre.

Camel's Garden Hotel

The Camel's Garden Hotel second floor meeting room is an intimate space best suited for 24 people or less. Consider this space for fall, winter, or spring meetings when the school is not available. Camel's Garden is located on the gondola plaza with easy access to the ski mountain. Also on the plaza is a lift ticket office and ski rental shop, making this meeting space ideal for winter meetings. TSRC offers attentive service for meetings held here because the staff to scientist ratio is so small. The meeting space is semi-private, though, so occasional noise from hotel guests or hotel staff is to be expected. Breakfast is served on the first floor mezzanine of the hotel daily, with hotel guests present. TSRC often arranges private dinners or lunches as well, for meetings held here.

Ah Haa School for the Arts

The Ah Haa School for the Arts resides in the historic train depot located on the San Miguel River. The recently remodelled Gallery space is a beautiful room for meetings. High ceilings, wood floors, and tall windows give the room an airy feel. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the riparian forest and decks over looking the river and beckon as the perfect spot for coffee breaks. The "East Room," adjacent to the Gallery convenient for staging and serving breakfast and snacks to our scientists. It is available late September through early June only.
