Comments from TSRC Participants

About the quality of the science:

“Sincerely, the TRSC meeting is the best I ever attended and I am looking forward to organizing the 2009 meeting. I attended the TRSC meeting on Protein Dynamics for the first time in 2005. Two very fruitful collaborations (one with Doug Tobias) directly came out of this meeting. We now have a first collaborative paper under review in a very good journal. In 2007 too, I established another very promising collaboration.”
– Martin Weik, Participant in the 2007 Protein Dynamics Workshop, Institut de Biologie Structurale in Grenoble, France

“Telluride workshops are different from traditional conferences. Participants frequently interrupt a presenter and we all ask dozens of questions during the talks. Such interactive presentations were quite effective and helpful in digging into and inventing new, untouched problems.”
– Tamiki Komatsuzaki, 2007 TSRC organizer of The Complexity of Dynamics and Kinetics in Many Dimensions workshop, and professor at Kobe University in Japan

“Several new collaborations were launched this year. In particular, the fact that we brought theoretical and experimental scientists from different fields led to some unexpected synergies.”
– Rigoberto Hernandez, 2007 TSRC organizer of Chemistry and Dynamics in Complex Environments workshop and Georgia Tech professor

I was able to hear about the work of people in the large area of protein dynamics and am able to begin think about some aspects of the subject I had ignored. Based on some of the talks I heard at workshop, we are thinking of analyzing some of our experiments differently.
– Pramodh Vallurupalli, Participant in the 2007 Protein Dynamics Workshop, Postdoctoral fellows University of Toronto

About the quality of the place:

“The format is exceptional - plenty of time for discussion in a great environment. There is certainly a correlation between scientific creativity and the vacation-like ambiance of the meeting. Thank you again for the perfect organization of our Protein Dynamics workshop.”
– Martin Weik, Participant in the 2007 Protein Dynamics Workshop, Institut de Biologie Structurale in Grenoble, France

“The informality of Telluride and TSRC are key ingredients. I think hiking puts people in a more open mood. Telluride is full of high-energy, positive people. It is a nice environment in which to try to accomplish something in a short time.”
– Michael Kellman, participant in the 2007 Complexity of Dynamics and Kinetics in Many Dimensions Workshop and the 2007 Vibrational Dynamics workshop, past president of TSRC, and Professor of Chemistry at University of Oregon

“The town is friendly and receptive to new ideas. The whole package of outdoor sports and the town's amenities offer many possibilities for our attendees to relax outside of the intensity of our workshops.”
– Rigoberto Hernandez, 2007 TSRC organizer of Chemistry and Dynamics in Complex Environments workshop and Georgia Tech professor

About the quality of the TSRC conference services:

“Nana, thanks for your superb management of ICOLS07. Leo and I are deeply indebted to you and the rest of the TSRC team; we simply could not have made it work without your patience, savvy & support. You are top-notch Nana; it was a distinct pleasure for us to work with you.”
– James C. Bergquist, 2007 TSRC organizer of the ICOLS 2007 Conference, NIST, Boulder Colorado

“Thanks for providing an outstanding organizational structure that allows us to continue to hold our meeting in Telluride!”
– Thomas Kleyman, 2005-2007 organizer of the Epithelial Physiology and Cell Biology workshop and Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh

“The meeting was simply fantastic. I can’t think of anything to make this a better meeting. I have to applaud Nana for an exceptionally well-done job. We all take these things for granted and don’t realize often how much time and effort is put into organizing something like TSRC.”
– Jan Genzer, participant in the 2007 Telluride Workshop on Polymer Physics and professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at North Carolina State University
