Town Talks: Engaging and Stimulating

The intellect that comes to Telluride Science each summer is astounding. Telluride Science aims to share this wealth of information and insight with the community through our annual Town Talk series. Through these engaging and down-to-earth lectures and panel discussions, the public can learn about new revelations in science and technology and hear from experts on broader philosophical issues like why free speech matters in science.

History of Town Talks

In 1991, Telluride Science founders Peter Salamon and R. Stephen Berry started the lecture series in the old elementary school on Thursday nights as a way to give back to the Telluride community. The Town Talks have grown in popularity through the years and have moved locations several times–from the elementary school, to the Wilkinson Public Library to the Palm Theatre to the Telluride Conference Center. Last summer a few Town Talks were held at the Depot. Telluride Science looks forward to hosting Town Talks once again when the Depot is restored and transformed into Telluride Science & Innovation Center, debuting in summer 2024.
