ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry’s organizing committee invites you and your family to attend the conference, July 17-22, 2011, in the beautiful mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. The invited speakers are among the leading scholars in their respective fields, span generations and disciplines, and represent frontier work on problems of considerable current importance. Inspiration, cross-fertilization of ideas, networking, new collaborations, and great science are the goals of the conference. Free time has been built into the ACTC schedule to allow students and speakers to informally discuss science, while taking in the beauty of the natural surroundings.

ABOUT THE VENUE

The sleek and modern Michael D. Palm Theatre contains 654 comfortable seats with excellent sight lines to the stage from every spot. The facility is wheelchair accessible, both to the main floor and balcony seating. Meals will be served on the lawn just outside the Palm Theatre in the dramatic setting of Telluride’s box canyon. Mountains and waterfalls form the backdrop.

ABOUT TELLURIDE

Everything in Telluride is within walking distance – great hiking trails, mountain biking, rock climbing, mountaineering, river rafting, fly-fishing, and more.

This historic mining town is a mere one-and-a-half miles long and half-a-mile wide, nestled in a mountain valley cut by retreating glaciers ten thousand years ago. Telluride is a community rich with breath-taking scenery, with a wide range of activities, local color, and lots of fun. And while the science is inspiring, the TSRC staff will work hard to make ACTC feel like a vacation.

Telluride sits in the stunning San Juan Mountain Range of the Colorado Rockies. You are encouraged you to savor the mountains, bound into outdoor activities, and bask under the Milky Way. The region is rich in world-class archeological sites, epic train routes, and 14,000’ peaks. For more information about activities in Telluride and the region visit

New Scholarship for historically under-represented groups in theoretical chemistry
ACTC announces a scholarship to encourage women and other historically under-represented groups in the area of theoretical chemistry to register for the 2011 ACTC meeting held in Telluride July 17th - July 22nd. The scholarship amount of $100 will defray part of the cost of registration.

This scholarship is for new registrants only and for those who have not already received an ACTC scholarship. While not a large sum of money per participant, this scholarship is intended to reach as many scientists — graduate students, faculty, postdoctoral and professional researchers — as possible. The applicant should simply register and enter into the comment field on the Lodging Page the code “2011ACTC100.” The ACTC registration process has a diversity page and this must be filled out by the applicant.
